Those who complete Mental Health First Aid training are known as MHFAiders. Trained to listen, connect, and provide essential support, MHFAiders play a key role in reducing stigma and creating support pathways for individuals facing mental health challenges across workplaces, communities, schools, and tertiary institutions.
The Mental Health First Aid course trains members of the community and employees to recognise signs of mental health issues and crises in those around them, equipping them to provide effective initial support for individuals developing mental health conditions or experiencing crises.
Blended Mental Health First Aid Courses consist of two parts: a self-paced eLearning component, followed by an instructor-led workshop, delivered either face-to-face or online via video conferencing. The workshop covers a review of the eLearning content and hands-on skill practice.
Refresher courses are 4-hour online sessions designed for those who have previously completed a 12- or 14-hour Mental Health First Aid course to update their knowledge and skills. For Accredited MHFAiders, these refresher courses provide an opportunity to renew their accreditation for an additional 3 years. You can take a refresher course up to 3 months after your accreditation has expired.
